Fox Valley vs Chicago Griffins Special Mention

Last Saturday there were rolling winds over the pitch stronger than I think we’ve had all
season. With Mother Nature blowing her heavy breaths, it made it extremely hard to control
the ball and kick it where desired. Even with this factor, the Fox Valley Maoris were still able to
pull a victory over the Griffins team. As the wind wrapped its ever changing arms around the
players on the pitch that day, pushing one to another, one was not swayed.

Given his first opportunity to be a part of the starting 15 of the Maoris, it was easy to
assume that Mo would fight for every single step he took on the pitch that day. Whether it was
slamming into a ruck when needed, pushing himself harder than ever to wreck the fly half from
the scrum, or stepping up with a fortified heart and taking possession of the ball to break
through their defensive line, Mo easily showed that not only did he deserve to be in that spot,
but that he can, and will, play with the heart of a lion every single moment that ball is in play.

Off the pitch, Mo is easily one of the most kind and helpful people I have ever met. He is
always helping players who don’t know what their doing on the field (like yours truly) and not
only tells them where they need to be, but explains the rules and strategies from the side lines.
He’ll be the first to pick you up when you fall to the ground and the first to pat you on the back
after a good hit or run. Mo is a wonderful person, former marine, loving husband and father,
but do not mistake him on the pitch, for that kind heart of his turns to steel, and fills with fire
once the ball is kicked. On behalf of everyone, Congratulations Mo, not for filling in AS a starter
on Saturday, but for charging through with strength and will, and truly BEING a starter.
